East China Normal University (ECNU) is one of the most prestigious universities in China sponsored by the Ministry of Education, and one of the 36 Class A universities on the list of Double First-Class University. The School of Marxism of East China Normal University has been honored with four titles, namely, The National Key School of Marxism, The Model School of Marxism among Shanghai Universities, The School of Marxism Jointly Built by the Propaganda Department of Shanghai Municipal Committee, and Shanghai Peak Discipline Construction Unit of Marxism. The School is selected as one of the A-Class schools in the Fourth China’s Disciplinary Evaluation of the Ministry of Education. The School, boasting the first-level discipline of Marxist Theory, has set up a comprehensive discipline system which covers master programs, doctoral programs and postdoctoral research stations, and offered two undergraduate majors: ideological and political education (selected as a national first-class undergraduate major in 2020) and Marxist theory (approved in 2021).

The discipline of Marxist theory in East China Normal University has formed different influential research directions, including research on theory and practice of Sinicization of Marxism, international dissemination of Sinicization of Marxism’s achievements, history of the founding of the Chinese Communist Party, history of the Anti-Japanese War, theoretical innovation of the CPC’s construction, construction of the CPC’s grassroots organizations and management, social development and civic education, and integrated research on ideological and political theory courses in universities and schools. The relevant academic platforms established on the base of the School include the National Teaching and Training Base for University Teachers of Ideological and Political Theory Courses, the Training Center for University Ideological and Political Faculty Sponsored by the Ministry of Education, the Research Base of Socialist Theory System with Chinese Characteristics Sponsored by the Central Committee of the Communist Youth League, Shanghai Practical Training Base of the Integration of Ideological and Political Theory Courses in Universities and Schools, the International Center for Disseminating the Achievements of Sinicization of Marxism, the Research Center for Civic Development and Modern Moral Education, the Research Center for Marxism and Contemporary Development, Shanghai Party Construction Research Base of New Economic and Social Organizations, the Research Center for Party Regulations and Legislative Construction, etc.

We are now recruiting full-time teachers at home or abroad perennially.

Disciplines:

1. The Basic Tenets of Marxism

Research directions: Marxist philosophy, political economy, scientific socialism, and the study of Marxism in the 21st century, etc.

2. Ideological and Political Education

Research directions: the principles and teaching methods of ideological and political education, civic morality and legal education, the education of Chinese fine traditional culture, and the integration of ideological and political courses in universities and schools, etc.

3. Sinicization of Marxism

Research directions: the dissemination of Marxism in China, the combinations of Sinicization of Marxism with China’s reality and Chinese fine traditional culture, and Xi Jinping Thought on Socialism with Chinese Characteristics for a New Era, etc.

4. History of the Communist Party of China

Research directions: the establishment of the CPC and the Central Committee of the CPC in Shanghai, the New 4 Army and the Anti-Japanese War, and the history of reform and opening up, etc.

5. The Construction of the Communist Party of China

Research directions: theoretical innovation of Marxist political party, the construction of the CPC’s leadership and governing capacity, the construction of grassroots Party and social governance, and the CPC’s laws and regulations and institutional improvement, etc.

Requirements and duties:

1. Leading Talents

l Age: not more than 55 years old in principle.

l With outstanding academic achievements recognized by the counterparts at home or abroad.

l With national honorary title(s).

2. Professors

l Age: not more than 50 years old in principle.

l With outstanding academics.

l With high-level academic achievements recognized by counterparts.

l Be capable of teaching core and frontier courses of the discipline.

3. Zijiang Distinguished Young Scholars

l Age: not more than 45 years old.

l Have obtained a doctoral degree or engaged in postdoctoral research at universities or research institutions at home or abroad.

l Hold a vice-senior or above professional and technical post in principle.

l Be at the same level with the candidates of the National Young Talent Program.

l The goal of the post: to reach the same level of the candidates of the National High-level Talent Program within one appointment period (6 years).

4. Zijiang Young Scholars

l Age: not more than 40 years old.

l Have obtained a doctoral degree or engaged in postdoctoral research at universities or research institutions at home or abroad.

l The scientific research achievements should meet the requirements of senior professional and technical posts.

l The goal of the post: to reach the same level of the candidates of the National Young Talent Program within one appointment period (6 years), or to be promoted to a senior professional and technical post.

5. Mingyuanchenhui Scholars

l Have obtained a doctoral degree or engaged in postdoctoral research in universities or research institutions at home or abroad.

l Recent PhD graduates should be under 30 years old, and those with postdoctoral experience should be under 33 years old.

l With high-level research achievements recognized by the counterparts.

l Be capable of teaching core and frontier courses of the discipline.

6. Full-time Scientific Researchers

(1) Full-time researchers

l With a doctoral degree.

l Scientific research capacity and academic level should meet the requirements for the scientific researchers of East China Normal University.

(2) Full-time associate researchers

l With a doctoral degree.

l Scientific research capacity and academic level should meet the requirements for the associate scientific researchers of East China Normal University.

7. Postdoctoral Researchers

l We are recruiting full-time postdoctoral researchers and in-service postdoctoral researchers.

l Have obtained the doctoral degree for generally not more than 3 years old.

l Age: not more than 35 years old. (The age limit can be appropriately relaxed for particularly outstanding applicants.)

l Be physically and mentally healthy.
